Snake oil and Voodoo Magic? No, search engine optimization! It's funny to hear people's perception of the various aspects of digital and social media marketing ... everyone has a certain degree of interest, tolerance and understanding of how it all works. And if you told me I would be in the thick of this and data analytics, 6 months ago, I would have scratched my head ... and thought deeply. I like to think I possess vision, but some days the haze sets in and the outlook is uncertain.
I have been in sales forever and I have been marketing "digitally" since George W. Bush was in office. I woke up one morning wanting more for myself and got a taste in my mouth for some graduate school. So add some sales/marketing to a few cups of social media, and stir it up and you have yourself some basic digital marketing. Now add some data analytics to this soup and you have got a really interesting meal.
Data is where it's at. "Show me the data!" is going to be the new catch phrase, someone call Jerry Maguire. Everyone wants to know the numbers behind the scene. Attribution, conversion rates and return on investment are all the new black.
Here I am, sponging it all up. Starting with computer literacy, I am slowly but surely turning into Super Tech Woman. One blog post at a time. So hold on to your hat, and climb on, we will be in the cloud soon and I'm not sure we are coming back to earth any time in the near future.
